Ruth Runs a Marathon
The Sea Bunkering Accounts Department has produced its first marathon runner: Ruth Kenyon. The second Brighton Marathon took place on Sunday 10th April 2011 on a swelteringly hot sunny day. Having completed the race in an impressive time of 4 hours 17 minutes, Ruth said: “it was definitely my toughest race yet!” Brighton is a colourful and bohemian seaside town so the atmosphere was fun and lively, even if the heat made it harder than expected for the 8,000 endurance runners to get round the 26.2 mile course.
When she’s not working, or studying for her Chartered Accountancy exams, Ruth can usually be found following an ambitious training schedule of running, cycling and swimming. The company’s most dedicated sportswoman, Ruth has competed in around 10 half marathons to date; she is also a tri-athlete, braving the challenges (lake swimming, bike riding and running) of the New Forest ‘Half Ironman’ last autumn. But the marathon was her biggest achievement so far and now there is no stopping her – she is planning to take part in a ‘Full Ironman’ next year.
