In September, Barry Newton and Graeme Cardno from Sea Bunkering attended the ‘SPE Offshore Europe Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition’ in Aberdeen. The event has been running every two years since 1975 – Graeme went to the very first one and has been attending ever since! “It was pioneering stuff back then”, says Graeme, “and the exhibition has grown in step with the offshore market”.

‘SPE Offshore Europe’ has become a huge get together for people and companies in the offshore industry – an opportunity to catch up with contacts, find out who is doing what and meet new customers and suppliers. The number of attendees in 2011 reached an all-time high of 32,000 and 1,500 exhibitors occupied an area of 25,000 square metres. Speakers and delegates at the conference discussed themes like global industry trends, oil spill prevention and the technical issues involved in securing safe, sustainable supply.
